GMO- The Generational Poison

Genetically Modified Organisms, the process of inserting the genes from viruses and bacteria and other genetic material from animals into the DNA of other species, like soybeans and corn; to create a herbicide and insect resistant food product; is really some scary science. What’s even scarier is that it wasn’t even a well thought out plan. No pre-market testing;  it was just slammed into the food supply, with, I might add, the approval of the FDA and USDA.

The process of genetic engineering actually modifies the genetic code and re-programs it to become something new; even sounds dangerous. In GM plants, a new protein was spawned that was designed to kill insects trying to eat them or to make them tolerant of the herbicide Glyphosate, found in Monsanto’s Roundup. Sounds great in theory…The effects of course were not predictable.

Or were they??? FDA scientists warned that genetically engineered foods could create allergies, toxins, new diseases and nutritional problems. But….they approved them anyway. file0001297229356

  • Lab animals fed GM crops showed damaged organs, higher infant mortality, smaller babies, organ lesions, signs of toxicity, potentially precancerous cell growth, massive tumors, early death, sterility, and birth defects. Investigations link GM feed with livestock sickness and death. And thousands of farm workers that handle GM cotton plants are reporting rashes, itching, and allergic reactions.

Now–where are We? And what about the next generation, our children and grand children??? This industry wants to replace ALL our food with this poisonous stuff!!!80

Right now we are faced with:

  • rising health issues in the US, e.g. multiple chronic illness, food allergy, autism, diabetes
  • American Academy of Environmental Medicine: infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, organ damage, and gastrointestinal problems.

When we and our families consume GMO foods we are ingesting Roundup. Studies now suggest that our gut has become a pesticide factory. The pesticide is on the food and in the food. Because these genes have mutated, either by deletion or by altering the gene expression, they might also produce harmful RNA. (DNA creates RNA, and the RNA creates proteins). Our healthy gut bacteria are also being destroyed by the trans-genes from DNA bacteria inserted into the GM crop.

Our children are eating more corn and corn-based products than we adults do. There’s also GMO soy in infant formula. Can you imagine what’s happening inside their bodies???10300510_444588675656343_4140437450804174673_n

And let’s not forget the GMO fed dairy cows with the added  rbGH for rapid growth. Also, allergies have increased 400%  since the introduction of GE foods into our food supply. And if that weren’t enough, they now want to add Agent Orange (2,4 D) to the killer mix. Enlist Duo, is a mixture of 2,4 D and glyphosate. The monster created a bigger monster and now they have to come up with a bigger gun. Even though 35 scientists have urged the EPA not to approve this deadly mix, citing that it would endanger human and environmental health, the approval is close to becoming a reality. deadly duo

On July 23, 2014 Environmental Work Group released this report:

Washington, D.C. – Prominent doctors, scientists and business leaders today urged Congress to pressure the Obama administration to reject an application to market “Enlist Duo,”TM a new toxic herbicide mix of 2,4-D and glyphosate.

“Exposures to herbicides in early life can lead to disease in childhood or disease later on in adult life or even old age,” said Dr. Landrigan, dean for global health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. “Herbicide chemicals can also cross from mother to child during pregnancy and prenatal exposures that occur during the nine months of pregnancy are especially dangerous.”

Physicians are very concerned about exposure to the combination of 2,4-D and glyphosate because of the potential lifelong and irreversible effects on the health of vulnerable populations, including children, pregnant women and farm workers,” said Dr. Thomasson, executive director of Physicians for Social Responsibility. “Policy decisions should take into account the costs that can result from failure to act on the available data on toxic herbicides.”

GE and the Environment

    • Dismantles plant defenses,
    • Destroys beneficial microorganisms
    • Promotes disease-causing pathogens
    • Remains in soil and influences later crops

It is believed that widespread contamination has occurred because there has been a dramatic increase in spraying, because of “Super-weeds.” There would be pesticide “drift”causing cross- contamination into nearby residential areas and ecosystem habitats.

What About the Soil?

Dr. Don Huber is an expert in an area of science that relates to the toxicity of genetically engineered (GE) foods. In an article published by Dr. Joseph Mercola, he states the following:

“…glyphosate can accumulate and persist in the soil for years. Persistence is determined by biological activity, soil PH, clay content, and how firmly its sequestered or absorbed in the soil. This is bad news, because glyphosate not only decimates beneficial microorganisms in the soil essential for proper plant function and high quality nutrition, it also promotes the proliferation of disease-causing pathogens.”

The soil is being irreversibly damaged and an epidemic of herbicide resistant super-weeds is raging. All the beneficial nutrients are gone. Globally, the arable land is to be lost through “degradation’, specifically soil erosion”.earthday_soil

*New research links pesticide exposure to adverse effects 3 generations later. This is surely a systemic problem that has a “domino effect of harm to the ecosystem.”

What do we do? What will be left for future generations? Will the land our children inherit feed them and their children?

The answers to these questions are obvious if we can’t turn this poisonous tide.

The O Shift

Fortunately we are seeing a shift to organic foods as more people are becoming aware. Parents are insisting on non-GMO products. But the battle is far from over. We must continue to reject these poisons masquerading as food. The scientific studies (343 of them) support the fact that organic is a healthier, is-organic-bettermore nutritious alternative to GE foods. Organic market sales have seen a dramatic increase. Say NO everyday to GMO!!! Support your  local permaculture farm and organic  agriculture. High fructose corn syrup is a killer. The average person consumes over 60 pounds per year. Obesity rates have tripled and right along with it diabetes has seen a serious increase. But diabetes is increasing seven times its previous rate.

High Fructose corn syrup is not natural. The promoters of this un-natural sweetener say, “Sugar is sugar,” and “corn sugar or cane sugar, what’s the difference?”

Did you say CORN sugar??? That’s the high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) that’s causing some of our major health problems. And it’s made from genetically engineered corn. You know, the stuff that’s had its DNA altered with viruses and bacteria and all kinds of other junk.

Toxic gut bacteria comes from digesting GMO corn, the genetically engineered crap of Monsanto and company. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death, and a major cause of heart disease and stroke.

85.2% of people with diabetes are overweight. The number of people diagnosed in United States has increased 128% from 1988 to 2008.

 What Can You Do???

That’s why it’s up to us, the consumer to fight for labeling so we know what we’re eating. We need to avoid all processed foods. High fructose corn syrup is a product made from genetically engineered corn. It’s in everything. If you want to avoid obesity that leads to diabetes, stop eating corn-based products made from glyphosate-exposed GE corn. And–you must stop eating animal products that were fed a diet of GE grain. Animals that are fed glyphosate-contaminated corn, alfalfa, soy and grass, got fatter faster and they stayed fatter longer.

file0001076361565 In the same way Americans are getting fatter faster and staying fatter longer. The highest level of glyphosate is found in sugar and grain products. And because the animals have this grain as their main diet, animal products like butter, eggs, milk and are contaminated with glyphosate residues.

Check this out; according to the Cornucopia Institute, “the animals who had fed on GM corn were slightly larger, they ate slightly more, their intestines had a different micro-structure, they were less able to digest proteins, and there were some changes to their immune system.” This fact that ‘they were less able to digest proteins’ has huge implications in the biochemistry of amino acids necessary for all life processes. This not only may relate to a rise in obesity, but to increases in many modern diseases. These diseases include diabetes, digestive disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) (ADD), autoimmune diseases, sexual dysfunction, sterility, asthma, COPD and many more.”

The negative impact of these GE foods cannot be ignored. It will slowly, over time create inflammation, which damages our cellular system. Inflammation is known to be a precursor to just about every illness. Most diseases start in the gut with an autoimmune reaction that leads to systemic inflammation. Genetically Engineered foods cause that autoimmune reaction.

The Greek philosopher Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

Let’s start with eating an anti-inflammation diet. Here’s a suggested one:

  • Breakfast: oatmeal served with fresh berries and walnuts, with a cup of almond or hemp milk. Any organic whole grain cereal without sugar or corn.
  • Snack on organic or local whole fruits, nuts, seeds, and fresh vegetables throughout the day instead of cookies and candy.
  • Eat more “wild caught”fish (No farm raised fish), and less fatty grain-fed red meat.
  • Stay away from deep-fried foods and bake or stir fry instead.
  • Choose green, orange, and yellow organic or local vegetables for your side dishes.
  • Drink plenty of water, fresh 100 percent (limited)  organic vegetable juices, herbal teas and green tea.

Eating organic will decrease your toxic chemical overload. And don’t forget portion control. 🙂

Corn is a very high-glycemic grain. It raises the blood sugar. As I  stated earlier, it is found in every product  in the market and in those fast foods we love. Here is a  list of  some of the commercial corn foods:

GMO’s…How Sick Are You???

You know, I find it surprising that there are many today that believe that GE foods are causing no harm. How they believe that is a mystery to me. I’m over 50, and I’ve been here long enough to measure what I see today against things of the past. We are, as a nation, sicker than we ever have been. How sick are you?

Yes, there are genetic, and environmental reasons for some of what we see. But I believe that the greater percentage of the disease and sickness we see prevailing today is due to one common denominator. Genetically Engineered or Genetically Modified Organisms that’s in our food.

How sick are you???

It’s a two-fold question. How sick are you in body, your health??? And, how sick and tired are you of what’s going on with our food???

When Monsanto forced genes from bacteria, viruses, animals, and humans into the DNA of a food crop, something new and hideous was going to result. The desire to create cheaper food (as they say) has led to this practice of modifying and cloning, and they didn’t even consider the effects it would have on human health.

In an open letter “from world scientists to all governments concerning genetically modified organisms” it was expressed that “GM crops offer no benefits to farmers or consumers. Instead, many problems have been identified, including yield drag, increased herbicide use, erratic performance, and poor economic returns to farmers. GM crops also intensify corporate monopoly on food, which is driving family farmers to destitution, and preventing the essential shift to sustainable agriculture that can guarantee food security and health around the world.”

The letter states: “We urge the US Congress to reject GM crops as both hazardous and contrary to the interest of family farmers; and to support research and development of sustainable agricultural methods that can truly benefit family farmers all over the world. Now, let’s see here. We have the scientific community standing  and expressing their concern about these Genetically Engineered or GM crops, and  they, the scientists, are calling for the rejection of GM crops. Their concern is, one for the farmer (as it should be, they are suffering in this, but, that’s a whole new blog); and secondly, they are concerned with its effects on the environment and the safety of humans and animals.

People, there is cause for concern. These crops receive widespread application of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and other toxic chemicals. None of these are suited for human consumption. According to Charles Benbook, chief scientist, at the Organic Center in Oregon, using data from the USDA, “there has been an estimated increase in the use of pesticides for GMO crops of about 400 million pounds over the first 16 years of its commercial use.”file6781242268130

Read any pesticide label. You will find toxic substances that are known to have chronic health effects that can occur years after just minimal exposure. And we’re eating it!! Come on–this is not rocket science!  Pesticides are in our food, in our water; they’re in the air we breathe. Not only are we being poisoned with the pesticides, add to that, an increase in antibiotic resistant bacteria.

There is evidence surfacing everyday to support the fact that our exposure to pesticides causes chronic health problems.

Here’s a good example. I’m sure everybody today has come in contact with a child that has ADHD,  you know, it’s the fancy name for–“I can’t sit still”or “I can’t pay attention.” Back in the day, my Grandma called it something else.Well– anyway; we all know one or two children that suffer with it. I have a few grandkids that suffer from ADHD. It appears to be on the rise. Guess what? Yep! You guessed it, pesticides in the food:

Now, you just read that there  is a risk found from residues found on the fruits and vegetables. Now add to that, pesticides and herbicides found in the DNA of the fruits and vegetables. We and our children don’t stand a chance. And rather than change their diet, we give them toxic pharmaceuticals. How sick are you???

GMO and Disease 

Residue in my boobs is not a happy thought. 😦 But it isn’t just pesticide residue we should be concerned about. Did you know that it’s said that 1 in 3 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime? Would you be surprised to know that in their little rat tests, exposing them to glyphosate in their food supply, the female rats developed massive tumors in their mammary glands?IMG_8031

Coincidence? I think not.

Endocrine disruption, what is it, what has that to do with GMO and disease? I’m glad you asked. 🙂 The endocrine system if made up glands throughout the body. They are your pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, the pancreas, and the ovaries or testicles.They secrete hormones into the bloodstream that affect many body functions like growth and development, metabolism (the production of energy), healthy weight, mood, and organ performance. These hormones work in very small doses. The endocrine system is disrupted with low dose exposure over a prolonged period of time with hormonally active chemicals like Glyphosate, the main chemical in Roundup.

Consider this point:

“Endocrine disruptors can lead to failure in all systems in the body that are controlled by hormones. Imbalances  and malfunctions of the endocrine system can lead to diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, Cushing’s syndrome, hypo- and hyperthyroidism, infertility, birth defects, erectile dysfunction, cancer (breast, prostate, liver, brain, thyroid, non-Hodgkin’s (lymphoma), sexual development problems, neurological disorders (learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, schizophrenia) among others. I think that covers all the diseases we see prevailing in our country today. Monsanto’s glyphosate use is causing diseases in our organs. The increase of these diseases seem to be on track with the introduction of GE crops and the liberal use of glyphosate.

I find these charts to be quite convincing evidence that glyphosate applied to the GE soy and corn has a direct correlation to the sickness in America. In each graph you can see that as the application increased so did the incidence and number of people who have the diseases. I’m not saying that this is the only cause, because we are bombarded with a vast array of chemicals that we come in contact with on a daily basis. However, this correlation is not just coincidence.

Contrary to popular belief, there are many scientific studies on glyphosate and the other chemicals in Roundup (we haven’t even talked about those yet), that prove their toxic effect to human cells. Here’s a short list, just to name a few:

In 2004, Marc et al. reported that glyphosate-based pesticides cause cell-cycle dysfunction that leads to development of cancer.
In 2009 Gasnier et al. published an article in the journal Toxicology citing evidence that glyphosate-based (G-based) herbicides are endocrine disruptors in human cells. They reported toxic effects to liver cells “at 5 ppm [parts per million], and the first endocrine disrupting actions at 0.5 ppm, which is 800 times lower than the level authorized in some food or feed (400 ppm, US EPA, 1998). … In conclusion, according to these data and the literature, G-based herbicides present DNA damages … on human cells.”
In 2012 Koller et al. reported that glyphosate and its formulation (Roundup) is toxic to cells, particularly organ cells, and exhibits DNA-damaging properties “after short exposure to concentrations that correspond to a 450-fold dilution of spraying used in agriculture.http://www.examiner.com/article/data-trends-show-correlation-between-increase-organ-disease-and-gmos 9

As I stated earlier, we live in a chemical bubble, coming in contact with myriads of thesefile3731308109680 poisons everyday. BPA, in our plastics, dioxins, from pesticides and herbicides; chlorine, fluoride, food preservatives, BHT, BHA; food additives, how about the old MSG-mono-sodium glutamate. and aspartame (a known carcinogenic); food coloring, Red #40, a nasty carmine beetle making your food and drink red; just to name a few.

But I still feel that Monsanto, GMO foods, and glyphosate, took it to a whole new level.

We are eating this poison everyday. The colon, our food processor, is being damaged by this. Our slow death is being processed right along with this poisonous food.

You really are what you eat. Please think on these things I’ve said, and the evidences shown. Change is inevitable, why not make it a change for the better. And yes, I know, change is hard. But I say, when something is hard, work hard at it. We can eat better, cleaner, safer, with a little change. Wake up and pay attention, these Big Agricultural players care nothing about us. They will keep doing what they’re doing until we, the people, united, stand up and say, STOP!!! No More GMO!!! That is my mission….

Literally, we are dying from one disease or another. And there is cause for alarm. The “Big Food Monster” Monsanto is adding something special in our food. Monsanto is the producer of some of the world’s most dangerous substances–saccharine, PCB’s, DDT, and Agent Orange. Now they are a bio-tech giant, producing the herbicide Roundup. Monsanto first produced “Roundup Ready” glyphosate-tolerant plants using a gene from bacteria found growing near a Roundup factory. “Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, kills growing plants by preventing them from forming three particular aromatic amino acids, tryptophan, phenylalanine, and tyrosine.” http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2011-01/life-cycle-genetically-modified-seed.

For these Roundup Ready plants, Monsanto cloned a gene from a form of agrobacterium, (the stuff they found growing near their factory), you see, this bug was not affected by the Roundup. They used E.Coli to clone the gene of  that agrobacterium and that made it resistant to  the Roundup. Approximately 90% of our nations soybeans and 70% of our corn has Roundup ready genes. And that’s just one of the bacteria they use, there are more. E.coli, Really?

Bt toxin is a toxic gene and is used to make pesticide resistant crops i.e., corn and cotton; it causes disease in insects. Its inserted into the seed to serve as a built-in pesticide. This toxin breaks open the stomachs of the insect in order to kill them. It has also been reported to break the walls of human cells. What the heck were they thinking??? Did they really think the disease would stop at the insects???

I know this is getting a little technical, but you gotta know. Farmers can spray, and spray and won’t kill the plant, but us on the other hand….dying, dying, dying from eating this spray. Europe doesn’t want GMO, neither does Russia. What is America thinking?

According to an article entitled ” The Intensifying Debate Over Genetically Modified Foods: “Nine GM (genetically modified) crops are currently being sold in the U.S.: corn, soybeans, canola, cotton, sugar beets, alfalfa, Hawaiian papaya, zucchini and yellow crookneck squash. Ninety percent of corn and cotton, 93 percent of soybeans, and 95 percent of sugar beets in the U.S. are GM crops. Most U.S. livestock is fed GM corn, alfalfa and soybeans; and many dairy products come from cows treated with rBGH (a GM growth hormone).

Eating to Live or Eating to be sick?

Can simply eating food cause sickness, even death? Yes it can!!! I know it’s not something you want to believe. I’m talking GMO here. So here are some facts for you to consider.

Morgellon’s disease, ever hear of it? I’m sure you haven’t, it’s not publicized. It’s a skin disease that causes lesions with strange, fiber like material sticking out of them. Sufferers report intense itching and a feeling that something is crawling under their skin.  They also suffer from severe depression, chronic fatigue, and a weakened immune system. Guess what else is found in the fibers? The same substance used to produce genetically modified plants, agrobacterium. Imagine that!

Liver problems, sterility, immune disorders, allergies, just to name a few, can be linked to the consumption of GMO foods. Cows are injected with rBGH, a genetically engineered growth hormone (Monsanto) that has an Insulin-like growth factor, IGF-1, that is well-known to cause cancer. So much for “Milk does a body good.”

Type 2 diabetes has been described as a new epidemic in the American pediatric population that has been coincident with the overall 33% increase in diabetes incidence and prevalence seen during the past decade. Is it just coincidence that this timeline corresponds to the introduction of most GMO foods??? Insulin and cholesterol disorders were reported to be found in lab animals fed GMO foods.

GMO foods are toxic and eating them makes you toxic. Toxicity leads to chronic illness and disease. This food is designed to produce toxins; pesticides are now living in your gut. IMG_1443

I’ll close this post with long list of illnesses and diseases caused by eating GMO foods:

Autism (250% increase), obesity, diabetes, cancer, reproductive problems, heart disease, allergies, immune compromising disorders. Worst of all, as stated, GMO foods have genes inserted in them, this genes transfers into the DNA of bacteria found in our intestines. And it continues to function inside of us, poisoning our major organs. Do you think the rise in gastrointestinal problems could be at all related to this?

What do we do? Shop local farmers market, Eat organic if you can.

Stay away from all soy and corn products as a starter. This is going to be a task because these two are found in just about every food product there is. Check the labels; soy lecithin, high fructose corn syrup are some names to watch out for. Vegetable oil is soybean oil, don’t be fooled. Shop your local farmers market. Eat organic if at all possible.

Stand firm and say No to GMO. It’s been said;”If we don’t Stand for Something, we’ll Fall for Anything.” Let’s stand together, “awareness is the first step towards healing”. Let me hear from you. Are you with me?
